Pokhara Himalaya
Our favourite places to stay

If you are traveling in Nepal, staying at homestays or lodges run by families are a great way to meet the local people. Here you can find the places where we like to stay.

Kathmandu

Two days in Kathmandu will give you enough time to visit the important sightseeings of Kathmandu. Thamel is a touristic area and a central place for visiting the old heritage sites. There are lots of places to stay. You can also choose to stay in the Tibetan Boudha area near the Boudha stupa.

If you have more time to spend Bhaktapur, Patan, Nagarkot and Dhulikel are worth a visit. On your way from Kathmandu to Pokhara you can make a stop in the beautiful village of Bandipur.

Pokhara / Tansen

In Pokhara you can enjoy some splendid trekkings in the Himalaya. We like to stay at Shangri-La Home Stay. By staying here you support the children’s home. Only 10 minutes walk from Lakeside this is a quiet place and the terrace on the rooftop gives you great views on the Himalaya. The owner (Krishna Acharaya)) is also running a trekking agency (Ethical trekking Nepal)

If you travel from Pokhara to Lumbini or Bardia, the small mountain town city of Tansen is worth a visit. You can make one or two day hiking trips, which give you wonderful views on the Himalaya. A good place to stay is Horizon Homestay which is run by the family Bashyal. (see tripadvisor)

Information about how to travel to Bardia you’ll find on the page ‘How to reach Bardia’
